I watched her hand as it banked and lifted. There was a little nostalgia in her voice, even though she says she has been clean for many years. Anyone who has fought the gremlins of depression and self-hate can relate to that little plane. Anyone who has been on the street. But the problems in taking that ride are legion. A short fifteen or twenty minutes in heaven, and then you’re back here on earth. There are no physical withdrawal symptoms as such from crack cocaine.
