The town was buzzing on Friday night. Some group I never heard of, ( India Aire?) was playing the Calvin, tour buses were all over town, and the cars were pouring down Armory Street headed for the parking garage. The Mayor had gone home, and Jessie Hudson, a Parking Enforcement Officer, was on duty. The free days were over. She had a big roll of bills in her hand and was patiently explaining the new rules of the road to one driver after another, $5.00 cash on the barrelhead. There was bafflement in the air, and some people pulled out of line and went off to look for a cheaper alternative. But business was good.
